Looking for a refreshing drink to enjoy this summer? Melon Apple Sangria is the perfect drink for you! This delicious cocktail recipe combines juicy melons and tart apples with crisp white wine. It’s the perfect drink to serve at your next party or barbecue!

What’s the best white wine for sangria?

Sangria is a classic summertime beverage, and there are many ways to make it. However, one important ingredient is always the same: wine. But with so many different types of wine available, how do you choose the best one for your sangria?

Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc are both good choices. Chardonnay is a versatile white wine that can be used in a variety of sangria recipes. Sauvignon blanc, on the other hand, has a more refreshing taste that is perfect for summertime sipping.

Whichever type of wine you choose, be sure to use a good quality bottle for the best flavor.

What melon works best in a melon apple sangria?

If you’re looking for the perfect melon to use in a melon apple sangria, you can’t go wrong with cantaloupe. The sweet, fragrant flesh of the cantaloupe pairs perfectly with the crisp acidity of apples, and the orange-hued fruit looks beautiful when floating in a glass of white wine.

Honeydew is another excellent choice for sangria; its subtle sweetness will complement the apples without overpowering them. To make sure your melon is ripe, look for one that is heavy for its size and gives off a sweet, fruity aroma. Avoid melons that are bruising or have any soft spots.

What you need to make Melon Apple Sangria

  • 1/4 melon
  • 1 bottle dry white wine such as Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc
  • 3 T. sugar
  • 1-1/2 C. prepared lemonade
  • 1/4 C. White rum
  • 1 tart green apple such as Granny Smith
  • 1 lemon
  • 10-12 leaves of fresh mint

How to make the recipe

Place melon in the freezer for 3 hours.

In a large serving bowl or pitcher combine wine and sugar then add the rum and lemonade.

Slice the apple and lemon and add these to the wine mixture.

Take the melon out of the freezer and cut into cubes or use a melon ball tool to make little balls then add to the wine mixture.

Add some fresh mint leaves and place the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least two hours.

Taste and if it is a little bitter, add up to 1 teaspoon of sugar then pour into glasses with ice.

Storing the recipe

You can keep the sangria in the fridge for 2-3 days, just make sure any fruit is covered with liquid, otherwise, this can start to go mouldy quite quickly.

Recipe tips

For best results, the melon should be frozen a minimum of 3 hours before making sangria. Sangria should chill in the refrigerator for the flavors to marry for 2 hours prior to serving.
