Sangria is a party classic and there’s no end to the combinations you can make. In this one, we went with a mixture of berries, orange and peach for the perfect summer drink and a bottle of tasty red wine. Let’s take a look at how to make this easy pitcher drink.
Contents
Which wine is best for sangria?
You can’t go wrong with a good Spanish wine when it comes to making sangria. Grenache or Pinot Noir top the list of the best wine for sangria because they are fruity and low in tannins. That matters because tannins can taste odd when cooled but sangria really needs to be in the fridge for a while. So choose low tannin wines to avoid this problem.

Can This Be a Berry Sangria Mocktail?
Sure you can easily make this recipe into a mocktail. Instead of the red wine, simply add some unsweetened red grape juice to the mixture. That way you have the look and taste of the sangria but there’s no alcohol involved – perfect for the designated driver or the kids!
What you need to make Berry Peach Sparkling Sangria
- ½ c. blueberries
- 1 c. strawberries, sliced
- 1 large orange, sliced*
- 1 medium ripe fresh peach, sliced
- 2 c. dry red wine
- 1 c. freshly squeezed orange juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks, optional
- 2 c. sparkling water or club soda
- Ice, to serve
*Reserve one orange slice and cut into 4 or 6 small wedges for garnish
How to make the recipe
Add the fresh fruit to a large pitcher and gently muddle with a large wooden spoon to release the juices.
Add the grape juice, orange juice, and cinnamon sticks. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours.
To serve, fill individual serving glasses with ice and add sparkling water until half full. Top off with the chilled sangria and fruit and give a quick stir to combine. Garnish each glass with an orange wedge before serving.
Storing the recipe
Once mixed, keep it in the fridge. The sparkling water will lose fizz over time and any uncovered fruit is always a risk to rot so use up within 1-2 days at the most.
Can Berry Peach Sangria Be Made Ahead?
Mix everything apart from the sparkling water ahead of time. When you are within four hours of serving, then add the water and mix before popping back in the fridge for 4 hours to chill.
Recipe tips
If you want to play around with the combination of fruit, you definitely can. Raspberries in place of strawberries and blackberries in place of blueberries are two obvious substitutions.
You can also try using less fruit such as peaches and raspberries and use peach schnapps and some champagne, sparkling white wine or Prosecco to make the sparkling element.
